The Lake-Lehman girls made the biggest move between the preseason and first regular-season Astra Wealth Advisors Super Six Power Rankings of District 2 high school basketball teams.
Lake-Lehman is up to third in Big School Girls, the group that had the biggest shake-up in the newest set of rankings, which were released by NEPABasketball.com Sunday afternoon.
The top five teams all remained intact in Big School Boys, Small School Boys and Small School Girls rankings with just the sixth spot changing.
In Big School Girls, two teams moved up, three teams dropped out and three new teams joined the rankings.
Lake-Lehman’s 54-26 romp over host Hazleton Area in Saturday night’s championship game of the Lady Cougars Tip-Off Classic was one of many factors in those changes.
The Lady Knights opened the season ranked fifth and climbed two spots to third.
Hazleton Area had been ranked second, but fell all the way out of the rankings following the 28-point loss.
Nanticoke moved up from third to second with a road win over North Schuylkill.
Honesdale, Western Wayne and Abington Heights joined the rankings in the fourth, fifth and sixth spots. Western Wayne, like Lake-Lehman, is 2-0 two days into the season.
Scranton and Dallas dropped out after opening losses.
The other newcomers to the rankings are Williamsport in place of Hazleton Area in Big School Boys, Dunmore in place of Northwest in Small School Boys and Wyoming Seminary in place of Northwest in Small School Girls.
Williamsport, a District 4 team, is considered for the rankings in both boys and girls because it competes through District 2 in Class 6A Subregional play.
