Valley View girls claim Camoni championship

All-tournament selection Jadyn Swartout scored 13 points Saturday night to lead host Valley View past Mid Valley, 43-33, in the championship game of the 13th annual Lou Camoni Memorial Tournament.

The Cougars took the lead late in the first quarter, then pulled away by holding the Spartanettes to 8 points in the first 12 minutes of the second half.

Valley View (7-2) extended its lead from 21-17 at halftime to 40-25 midway through the fourth quarter.

Skylar Bianchi, who also made the all-tournament team, and Mia Rudalavage scored 10 points each. Bianchi led the strong start of the second half for Valley View.

Mid Valley’s Emily Morano scored a game-high 16 points and was also selected to the all-tournament team.

Lakeland 51, Carbondale 28

Colby White scored 16 points to lead Lakeland to the win in the Camoni consolation game.

All-tournament player Mikayla Marino added 12 points.

Addie Piraino chipped in with 10 points.

Halley Schwartz led Carbondale with 13 points. Sarah Tolerico made the all-tournament team from the Chargerettes.
