Seminary runs over Northwest, 66-31

KINGSTON – After losing sole possession of first place Friday night and falling into second Saturday, Wyoming Seminary moved right back into a tie for the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 3 boys basketball lead Sunday afternoon.

Dimitri Gnall scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds as the Blue Knights overpowered visiting Northwest, 66-31.

Wyoming Seminary had suffered its first WVC loss Friday night, then sat idle Saturday while Holy Redeemer took a half-game lead in the division.

The Blue Knights moved back into a share of the lead by holding the Rangers to seven points in each of the first two quarters, then running off the game’s last 15 points.

Gnall had 8 points and Nick Ganter 7 of his 12 to help Wyoming Seminary to a 31-14 halftime lead.

In the second half, Gnall scored 13 more points.

Todd Phillips had six assists and five rebounds in the win.

Walker Yaple, Jaxson Yaple and Sam Saxe each scored even points for Northwest.
