Leading scorer Alex Wesneski is one of four returning starters and part of the reason Wyoming Seminary has hopes of improvement in the upcoming girls basketball season.
The Blue Knights went 2-12 in the WVC, 6-17 overall and had their season end in the first round of District 2 Class 2A tournament play.
“This year, we have 27 girls on our roster,” third-year coach Abbey Rodway said at Sunday’s WVC Media Day. “When I started, there were 15 girls total JV and varsity.”
The numbers are up, the team has experience in key spots and most of the players are still underclassmen.
“We are still young, but we are a quick team,” Rodway said.
Wesneski, a sophomore guard, is joined by junior forward Mia Raineri, senior forward Julia Gabriel and junior guard Maaike Reitsma as the returning starters.
Sophomore guard Paige Parsons is expected to join them after coming off the bench last season.
Senior guard/forward Olivia Meuser and sophomore guard Ally Vezendy also saw significant playing time last season.
